7 Essential Habits For a Successful Morning
1. Make the bed. I make my bed as soon as I get up. Your bedroom will be practically tidy by making the bed since it takes up a large portion of bedroom space. I also love to go to bed and pull down the covers at the end of a long day.
2.Quiet time with coffee. Take just 10 minutes to do something quiet you enjoy such as journaling, reading, meditating, or other. Of course, I prefer to have quiet time with coffee but you can choose tea or your beverage of choice. Coffee is one of my simple pleasures:)
3.Movement. Part of starting the day right is doing some form of exercise for about 15-30 minutes. This could be as simple as doing a few stretches, some yoga poses, or a short walk. Anything to get the blood flowing in the morning is great. I love to do some breathing exercises and a few yoga poses but sometimes I will go for a walk instead.
4.Make time for breakfast. I always make time to fuel my body in the morning so I can get on with my day and not have to think about food for a a few hours while I work. Having a good meal in the morning will ensure you have the energy to get your day started towards a successful morning. My meal plan for breakfast is as simple as this: oatmeal during the weekdays and pancakes on the weekends.
5.Review Your To-Do List. I already know what I have to do for the day since writing out my list is one of the three things I do every night. In the morning, all I have to do is go over the list to help me get a better picture of how my day is going to go.
6.Schedule your sleep time. If I don’t go to bed each night at a reasonable time, my mornings and the rest of my day is not as productive and I feel tired and I’m dragging my feet throughout the day. To prevent this, I plan for my sleep. To start my morning at 6am, I have go to bed between 10-11pm because I need 7-8 hours of sleep a night. How many hours of sleep do you need in order to have a successful morning and day? Plan your sleep hours.
7.Prepare the night before. This is last but surely not least on the list of essential habits for a successful morning. Actually, this is one of the most essential habits for allowing me to have an awesome morning and ensures my day runs smoothly. For me, some of my preparing for the night includes cleaning up the kitchen, thawing any food for dinner the next day, some lunch prep, and choosing my clothes for the next day. My mornings are so much easier because I have a set evening routine.
